North Star Smittens

The "smittens" donated to North Star Lab Rescue - 7 pair were auctioned this round and made about $600. WOW! People were bidding $100 on some of them. There are 5 more pair to auction next week - we'll see - but I bet we may get close to $1000 for the pups!

Lily barks for nurses

Lily accompanied me to our latest nurses gathering, She reminds of Rissa so much as she does not like her photo taken and it is hard to get a good picture of her.

Early snow

Em doesn't mind the early snow we've gotten. She is still a teenager and silly and sweet.

Mittens for Northstar Lab rescue

Our 4th year donating mittens for raffle to Northstar Lab Rescue. Hopefully this will bring in enough $$ for them to have a few of their rescues vetted.

Good bye to Cirra

Miss Cirra was taken far to early and quickly in October. She did pet therapy at BBV with us and READer dog in NEH... she had many achievements in her almost 10 years. We've known her for many years through dog scouts. Dx 10/6 with Lymphoma and died just 10 days later. I was lucky to have had Timber for 16 weeks from her Lymphoma dx until she died. The big white gal will be missed in our community and by her owners.

Lily (black)and Emmie (choc)passed their Dog Scout of America test on National Dog Day. They wore their grandmother's scarves for the photo op. Lily is Rissa's grandpup and Emmie is Timber's.

Good Bye MIss Crystal

The Tremont School librarian finished her career today and is on to the next phase of her career. Jill and Cirra dropped by with some gifts for her today. Emmie inspects the bag we made for her :)

Lily attended the second COA Comfort Canines with Shira and Sophie.

COA Comfort Canines

Jill got to attend the COA Comfort Canine session today. Our "mentoree" Shira arranged the meeting for her fellow COA students. Sophie attended too.

Lily was ready to attend the next nurses vigil but... it didn't happen...

UMO May

Jill got to attend Campus Comfort Canines again at UMO during finals week. She gets lots of love and leaves a lot of fur behind...

Nurses vigil

Jill attended my nurses vigil in down town Bar Harbor - I made her a scarf in our colors with out unit number on it.... Many other dogs came to visit and support our nurses.

Hun visiting Camp Pam

My union labor rep adopted a retired yellow lab from my friend at Cedarwoods Kennels (where my girlz retire from) Tiffany - now called Hun... She stayed for a few days with me and enjoyed Camp Pam.

Advisor/mentor

I have been mentoring a College of the Atlantic student through the process of getting her dog Sophie certified with TD Inc and on becoming a READ dog. She has met all the qualifications and got her therapy dog title and is now taking the test for Reading Education Assistance Dog. She is following me and some other teams, observing, asking questions.... Here is Shira with Jill and BBV and at Tremont School as the Cat in the Hat at a program we did there.

Good Bye Rissa

My wonderful, sweet Rissa crossed the bridge today... at 15.5 years - she had a long, full and fun life. There will never be another like her... so easy, gentle... she touched so many in her over 1000 hours of volunteer service as a visiting pet therapy dog and a READer dog....

Rissa + Lily

Here's Rissa going on 15 and a half... altho it is hard for her to motor around on the iced backyard... she does it and is still happy and eating.... Her grand daughter Lily (8) enjoys a Maine lobster toy. Lily is as sweet as Rissa...

The girlz got a box

A package arrived unexpectedly and it was some yummy treats from their "fairy dog mother" - Nashville Dog Company cookies with their names on them!! They all shared one and gobbled the peanut butter biscuits down!

COA

Last Thursday I spoke to a Children's Lit class at the College of the Atlantic. Spoke to them on the

Raising Readers (program, books, selection) plus I educated them on Reading Education Assistance Dogs. Jill accompanied me. Always fun to do different events with the dogs. Jill is so easy to take anywhere.

Bond

I had a photographer take some snaps of Rissa and me. I regret not having a decent one with Timber so I told her I really wanted the bond to be the subject matter and I think she was successful in getting a few decent shots I was happy with...
